Maybelle shook her head with bafflement. It couldn’t be a coincidence that Lorraine had come to Gam-Gam’s house. Whether it had been suicide or murder, she couldn’t help but instinctively feel that it had something to do with the Langdon family’s ties to the property.

She found a few more articles written along the same lines, praising the Langdons for the selfless contribution to the war. But more interestingly, she found more articles on Albert Langdon, Lorraine’s brother.

From what Maybelle could deduce, the Langdons sold the property in the fifties to Maybelle’s grandparents and moved to a luxury estate on the other side of town. Victorian homes were no longer fashionable, and for a family that came from family money, it simply didn’t fit their image.

Both Lorraine and Albert were blessed with large trust funds when they turned twenty-one. Her father, Griswell Langdon, had been a property developer that had done very well for himself. When he and his wife suffered a fatal car accident ten years ago, Lorraine and her brother inherited sizeable wealth.

But what caught Maybelle’s attention were all the articles related to Albert. Apparently, Albert Langdon was some type of tech genius who moved to Silicon Valley after college. He began his own tech start up but simply didn’t have the technology or the skills to compete with the large contenders like Google, Apple, and the other corporate giants.

Instead of throwing in the towel when it became clear he wasn’t winning, he poured all his money into trying to save the company, which inevitably crashed and burned.

The articles related to Albert Langdon weren’t very flattering. The press had painted him as a white-collar trust fund baby competing out of his league. According to other articles from interviews with his employees, he was temperamental, easily agitated, and would dismiss someone simply for not liking their choice of footwear.

“Well, Albert Langdon, it seems you didn’t win a lot of popularity contests, now did you?” Maybelle mused to herself.

A yawn escaped her, and although she would’ve enjoyed browsing more and learning more about the Langdons, she finally switched off the computer and headed to bed.

The fact that Lorraine had a large trust fund and ties to the house intrigued Maybelle even more. The trust fund gave her husband even more motive than before, but as for the ties to Gam-Gam’s house, Maybelle wasn’t sure how that fit into the picture just yet.
